Dorothy Faye Hester Smith, 83, of Carthage, NC passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents, James Hester and Virginia Mangum Hester, her husband Robert L. Smith, one sister Anne Jervis, half brother Bobby Mangum, and one grandson, Heath Haire. Dorothy is survived by her son, Garry L. Smith (Anita) of Fuquay-Varina, two daughters, Debby Hales of Laurinburg, and Angela Stanley (Danny) of Bladenboro, one sister Jean Bridger of Mt. Pleasant, SC, two grandchildren, Scott Smith (Tricia) and Ethan Stanley and one great grandchild Graeme Smith.

Dorothy was a loving sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She always had a positive outlook on life and never met a stranger. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, attending craft shows, singing and working in her yard. Some of her favorite moments were times spent at Christmas with her family. Her optimistic attitude and love of life will certainly be missed.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 1:00 pm in the Pine Crest Cemetery in Bladenboro with Rev. Clarence Hardison Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the cemetery. All attendees are respectfully asked to wear masks and practice social distancing.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Moore County Hospice.
