Alice Howell Willoughby, 95, of Bladenboro went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 2, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Howell and Edith Mathis Howell, her husband, Calvin Daniel Willoughby, one daughter, Edna Faye Willoughby, one great granddaughter, Megan Milhon, two grandsons, Kevin Milhon and Eric Zachman and several brothers and sisters. Left to cherish her memory are son, Charles Thomas Willoughby (Bonnie) of Bladenboro, five daughters, Joyce Zachman of Tennessee, Zilla Milhon (Clifton) of SC, Paula Knepper of Bladenboro, Tammy Heath (Tracy) of Clarkton, and Patricia Gaughan (Justin) of Bladenboro, 21 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
Alice adored her family. She was a Christian lady who loved the Lord and stayed in the bible daily. She believed in the words “spare the rod, spoil the child” in so much she made you break your own switch if you needed some correction. Alice was disciplined yet loving. She also believed in giving a quick “spit wash” if your face got dirty. Alice always put others needs before her own. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and eating. Among her favorites were collard greens, biscuit and gravy, red delicious apple with a Baby Ruth candy bar and ice cream. Alice also loved to joke around and just have fun. Her sense of humor, compassionate heart and values of life will forever be held in the hearts of those who knew her best.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2020 at 3:00 pm at Galeed Baptist Church in Bladenboro with Dr. Mack Roberts and Rev. Brett Young officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. All attendees are asked to wear masks and practice social distancing.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Galeed Baptist Church, 571 Galeed Church Rd, Bladenboro, NC 28320.
