Alton Bordeaux, 81, husband of the late Carolyn Nobles Bordeaux, died Sunday, October 7, 2012 at the home of his son.
Born in Elizabethtown, NC, he was the son of the late Alston Asbury Bordeaux and the late Elena Earle Suggs Bordeaux. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Bordeaux worked for the railroad for 43 years beginning with Atlantic Coastline in Wilmington, NC and retiring from CSX in Jacksonville, FL. He served in various roles including switchman, yard conductor, and conductor on freight trains.
Survivors include a son, Rev. Mark Alton Bordeaux (Debbie) of Sumter; two grandchildren Mark Alton Bordeaux, Jr. (Elizabeth) of Liberty and Lauren Renee Bordeaux of Columbia; and five siblings, Richard Bordeaux of Elizabethtown; Robert Bordeaux of Melrose, Fl; Mary Sue Newcomb of Roanoke, Va.; William Travis Bordeaux of Morganton; and Gordon Bordeaux of Wilmington.
The family will receive from 5:00 until 7:00 pm on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 in the Chapel of Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark A. Bordeaux officiating, Burial will follow in the Bordeaux Family Cemetery.
Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home and Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter, SC, are in charge of the arrangements.
