Annette Elam Wetzel

Annette Elam Wetzel passed away in Midlothian, VA, on October 3, 2023. She was born in West Palm Beach, FL, on July 6, 1944, to John Edgar Elam and Annie Merle White Elam.

 

Annette graduated from the Medical College of Virginia’s School of Nursing in 1967 and enjoyed a long career serving her fellow citizens as a public health nurse. She had a great love of music, history, historic preservation, historic education, and genealogy. Annette was a generous soul, frequently making donations to charitable organizations. She was loved by her children, grandchildren, many friends, and family.

 

Her parents and former husband, Richard K. Wetzel, of Virginia, preceded her in death.

 

She is survived by her children Julia Trebour (Ted), Anna Rabhan (Jonathan), and Karl Wetzel; her beloved grandchildren Jacob Wetzel, Jackson Trebour, Collin Trebour, Alexandrea Wetzel, and Abram Wetzel; and her siblings, Sarah Edmondson, Meredith Muse, and John Edgar Elam, Jr., and their families.

 

Visitation will be on Friday, October 13, 7-8:00 p.m. at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home, Elizabethtown, NC. Graveside funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 14, Pine Crest Cemetery, Bladenboro, NC, Rev. Warren Hill officiating. Memorials may be made to Pine Crest Cemetery, Inc., P.O. Box 518, Bladenboro, NC 28320 or to one’s charity of choice.
