Barnie Bradshaw

December 7, 1926 — April 4, 2010

Barnie Bell Bradshaw, 83, of Bladenboro, died peacefully at sunrise on Easter Sunday morning, April 4, 2010, at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center in Whiteville, NC.

Mr. Bradshaw was born in Bladen County on December 7, 1926 to the late, George Lennon and Hattie Tim Ward Bradshaw.

Mr. Bradshaw was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 60 years Evelyn Dowless Bradshaw who was his pride and joy. His heart was broken when his dear daughter, Judy Gray Bradshaw Stanton passed away suddenly; infant grandson, Kenneth Wayne Price; a infant brother, George Livie Bradshaw; four

sisters; infant Lena May Bradshaw, Sarah B. Pait, Vivian B. Dowless, Letha B. Bullard all of Bladenboro.

Mr. Bradshaw was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother. He was a gentle,kind, compassionate man. He loved his family dearly. He loved and was a faithful member of Abbottsburg Baptist Church.

In his younger years, he farmed and worked with ASCA Farm Office, Star Telephone (right of way), USDA Witch Weed Program. He retired from the NC Dept. of Corrections at White Lake, he took pride in his 18 years and 10 months as a Sergeant. He was dedicated and loyal and while he worked there, he was instrumental on a new chapel being built there as well as influencing the life of many to turn to Christ. He worked part-time with the NC Dept. of Agriculture completing farm surveys. He was past president of Darden Hunting Club. He was a very community-minded person.

He is survived by a daughter, Winnie Sue Bradshaw Price and husband Myers of Castle Hayne, NC and a son Jesse Bradshaw and wife Tammy of Bladenboro; and son-in-law, Phillip Stanton and wife Terry of SC; five grandchildren, Michael Price and wife Dawn of Wilmington, Jonathan Bradshaw of Boone, NC, Dr. Andrea Price of Clarkesville, GA, Jill LaRue of Jacksonville, NC, Erica Bradshaw of Wilmington, NC; five great-grandchildren, Trevor, Caleb and Nathan Price of Wilmington, NC and Constance and Noah LaRue of Jacksonville, NC.



The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 11:00 am at Abbottsburg Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Sellers officiating. Burial will follow at Bullard Cemetery in Bladenboro.
