Bennie Britt

Bennie Claxton Britt, 81, of Dublin passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2014 in Scottish Pines Rehabilitation Center in Laurinburg, NC. He was born in Bladen County on March 19, 1933 to the late Roger and Eunice Benson Britt. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. After returning home, he worked in farming and land surveying at the ASC office in Elizabethtown and also did Contract Insurance Adjusting for the Federal Government and Britt Insurance Agency. Bennie was happy on his farm in Dublin and was an avid hunter and fisherman even from the time of his youth. He was a long time member of Dublin Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Along with his parents, Bennie is preceded in death by his infant sister Mattie Nelda Britt, and two brothers, Roger Elwood Britt and Billie Britt. He is survived by three sisters: Nelda Britt McDuffie of White Oak, Joe Ann Britt Hester and husband Curtis of Laurinburg and Brenda Britt Ray and husband Kenneth of Fayetteville, one brother John Britt of Dublin and a host of nieces (5living, 1 deceased) and nephews (16 living, 2 deceased) who loved him dearly.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday, May 9, 2014 at Dublin Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church in Dublin. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 10, at 2:00 pm at Dublin Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will be at a later date in Britt Cemetery in Dublin.
