Betsy Rich

Betsy Ross Allen Rich, 82, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Ross Allen and Edith Cains Allen, her husband, John Conrad Rich and one brother, James “Jim Henry” Allen. Betsy leaves behind one son, John Allen Rich (Regenia) of Longs, SC; one daughter, Susan Ellen Lloyd-Basily of Loris, SC; five grandchildren: Jordan Taylor Rich (Audrey) of Longs, SC; Corbin Anthony Lloyd, JoAnna Brooke Lloyd, Landon Alexander Basily and Zachary Vander Basily, all of Loris, SC one great grandchild Jackson Allen Rich and one on the way.

Betsy loved her family very much, especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother to Allen and Susan. Betsy graduated from East Carolina University with a degree in Speech Therapy and retired from teaching at the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base School after approximately 30+ years. She enjoyed her job and had a love for children and painting. She also enjoyed attending church at Purdie United Methodist Church in Tar Heel.

The family will receive friends from 9-9:30 am on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown followed by a funeral service at 9:30 am with Rev. Warren Hill officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Purdie United Methodist Church Cemetery in Tar Heel.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all the staff of East Bladen Health and Rehab Center for their love, care and compassion given to Betsy during her time there.
