Bettie Alford

Bettie D. Alford, 73, of Elizabethtown passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents: Dexter Deaver and Polly Ann White Deaver, husband: Wesley Alford, one son: Joseph Scarborough, three brothers: Norris, Ethell, And Ernest Deaver and one sister: Leta Bell Cain. Bettie is survived by four sons: Michael Alford (Maria) of Newport News, VA; Kenneth Alford of Suffolk, VA; Douglas Alford (Thuy) of Newport News, VA; and Bryan Alford also of Newport News, VA; two brothers: Ervin Deaver (Jurline) of Wilmington; Graham Deaver (Virginia) of Bladenboro; two sisters: Gracie Taylor (Charles) of Elizabethtown; Dorothy Barnes (Harvey) of Elizabethtown and two grandchildren: Johnathan Alford and Heather Alford.

Bettie cherished her family and her church. She enjoyed reading and traveling. Much of her life was spent seeing the world with her husband and children as they traveled with his job to such places as Iran, Virgin Islands, Utah, New Mexico, Kentucky and Texas. With her kind disposition she made a world of friends and will be missed by all.

The family will receive friends from 4-6 pm on Saturday, December 15th at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 16th at 2 pm at Wesley's Chapel United Methodist Church in Elizabethtown with Rev. Darrell Copeland and Rev. Eckie Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow the services in the church cemetery.
