Betty Pait Bowen

Betty Pait Bowen, age 82, of Bladenboro went to her eternal home on Thursday, August 31, 2023 while at Duke Medical Center. She was born in Bladen County on October 15, 1940 to the late Joseph Asbury Pait and Lena Storms Pait.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Horace Bowen and their daughter, Laura Bowen Allbright, sister Judy Hungerford, and brothers Alford Pait and Billy Ray Pait. She is survived by her sons, Joey Bowen (Donna) and Rick Bowen both of Bladenboro, daughter Donna Crutchfield (Tom) of Greenville, son-in-law Donald Allbright of Bladenboro, five grandchildren Travis Bowen (Mia) of Nakina, Scott Bowen (Alise) of Bladenboro, Clinton Crutchfield of Greenville, Ashley Crutchfield of Wilmington, and Elizabeth Allbright of Bladenboro, and three great grandchildren Arlo Hargrave, Benton Bowen, and Everly Bowen.

Betty was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bladenboro. She adored her church, church family and community. She served as the Town Clerk for Bladenboro for several years. Betty was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed spending time with the children watching movies, taking Sunday afternoon rides and picking up her grandkids from school. Betty was always the perfect hostess for any occasion and always made sure everyone had plenty to eat. She loved a good cup of coffee, morning devotionals and word search books. Her sense of humor, compassion, and dedication to everything she did are her legacy. The love she so freely gave and the laughter she shared will carry the hearts of those that will miss her.

The family will receive friends from 3-5 pm on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A committal service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, September 4, 2023, in the Pine Crest Cemetery in Bladenboro followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church in Bladenboro with the Reverend Warren Hill officiating.
