Billy Smith

Billy Ray Smith of Elizabethtown, died Friday, November 20, 2020 at home.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey David Smith and Ila Jane Davis Smith.  He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Bonnie Smith; two daughters, Pamela Hunsinger (Terry) of Raleigh and Sybil Alsup (Dean) of Elizabethtown; two brothers, Larry Smith and Harold Smith, both of Elizabethtown; four grandchildren, David Hunsinger, Hannah Hunsinger, John Dean Alsup, and Davis Alsup; and a great grandson, Matthew Hunsinger.

After the death of his father, Billy and his brothers continued to own and operate Cape Fear Tire in Elizabethtown.  Billy was very active at Elizabethtown Baptist Church, serving as a deacon.  He served on the Elizabethtown Rural Fire District Board and was a member of the Elizabethtown Jaycees.  He was an avid golfer as well.

A service will be held on Sunday, November 22, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Elizabethtown Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Rudy Ramphal.  The burial will follow the service at Bladen Memorial Gardens in Elizabethtown.  Due to Covid-19, the family requests all attendees wear masks and adhere to social distancing. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Elizabethtown Baptist Church, 1800 West Broad Street, Elizabethtown NC 28337.
