Mr. Bobby Joe Bryan, Sr., 76, of White Oak passed away in Lower Cape Fear Hospice of Wilmington on Monday, January 2, 2017.
He was a lifelong resident of White Oak and was employed with the Bladen County school bus garage for 31 years, of the last 13 of those years he served as director. Mr. Bryan had served 13 years in the Army National Guard. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and one of the oldest living members of White Oak Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Janice Dew Bryan of White Oak, his parents, William Edgar Bryan and Bertha Carroll Bryan of White Oak, two brothers William Boyd Bryan of Elizabethtown and Murray Alden Bryan of Elizabethtown. He is survived by his three children, daughter Kimberly Wilson of Holden Beach, son Bobby Joe Bryan, Jr. and wife Sandy of White Oak; and son Jeffrey Bryan of White Oak; three grandchildren: Joseph Caleb Bryan of Sacramento, CA; Jonathan David Wilson of Holden Beach; Sarah Elizabeth Underwood and husband Kyle of Tar Heel; one great grandchild Ryleigh McKenzie Jackson of Spencer, WV; sister Norma Bryan Dowless of Elizabethtown, brother John Perry Bryan of Dublin and two step-grandchildren: Austin Hunsinger and Ashley Hunsinger, both of White Oak.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 6, 2017 at 1 pm at White Oak Baptist Church in White Oak with Rev. Danny Lewis officiating. Burial will follow the services in the church cemetery.
