April 19, 1945 — March 18, 2018

Bobby Joe Cook, 72, retired Army Veteran of Lumberton, passed peacefully Sunday, March 18, 2018 surrounded by the ones he laughed with, lived for, and loved. Born April 19, 1945 to Frank and Gerline Cook, Bobby was the oldest of three sons. Bobby leaves behind his devoted wife of 48 years, Yvonne C. Cook of Lumberton; his daughter, Raquel Colley and husband Lance of Charleston; son, Blair Cook, wife Ashley and their daughter Margaret Cook of Raleigh. Additionally, he is survived by his brothers, Jimmy Cook and wife Debbie, Hugh Cook and wife Diann of Bladenboro, as well as nephews, Jason Cook and John Cook, and nieces Amy Barnes, Crystal Long, and Jennifer Long. His family also includes great nephews Jacob Barnes, Lucas and Knox Cook, Zach Long, and great niece Gracie Barnes.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday, March 22 at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 23 at 2 pm at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Bladenboro with Chaplain Samuel Smith, Rev. Jimmy Strole, and Larry Hammond officiating. Burial will follow the services in Bladen Memorial Gardens in Elizabethtown.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Shady Grove Baptist Church, 10981 Twisted Hickory Rd, Bladenboro NC, 28320 or the charity of your choice.
