Bobby Ray Lennon age 83 of Bladenboro NC, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 15, 2021 with his family by his side. Bobby was born on January 31, 1937 to the late Joshua Cade and Ruth Russ Lennon. To cherish his memory Bobby leaves behind his wife of 62 years Lillie Sue Edwards Lennon of the home, his sister Linda Lennon Brisson of Dublin NC, daughters, Connie Lennon Russ-Wallwork (David) of Bladenboro NC, Sarah Lennon Baysden (Delbert) of Bladenboro NC, son, Mike Lennon (Jan) of Whiteville NC. Grandchildren Joseph Russ (Natalie) of Bladenboro, Aaron Russ (Shelia-Marie) of White Oak NC, Austin McLean of Holden Beach, Camillia McLean Worley (Bryson) of Newton Grove NC, Lacy Lennon Herring (Alex) of Whiteville NC, Cade Lennon of Whiteville NC, and several great grandchildren. Bobby’s siblings that preceded him in death were Melba Lennon Elkins, Margaret Lennon Bennett, Jewel Lennon Barr-Sessoms, Nona Lennon Bass, Evelyn Lennon Pait, Carlton Lennon and Lloyd Lennon.
Bobby spent most of his years in Bladenboro, except fifteen of those years living in Winston-Salem working as a mechanic for International Harvester and Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co. Bobby moved to Bladenboro in 1973 where he opened his own business, Lennon’s Garage and worked as an automobile mechanic for 17 years before an unfortunate injury forced him into a career change with the County, where another unfortunate injury forced him unwillingly into retirement. He loved mechanic work and helping other people. To better serve others and his community, he was a member and faithful servant at Galeed Baptist Church. He was best known for driving the church bus transporting AWANA children and taking the Seniors and Joy Group on various trips and outings. He loved cutting grass not only for the church but for others. It was a task he did well with passion and pride. For him, it was another act of service and extremely rewarding. One of Bobby’s favorite pass times was fishing. He was truly a fisherman of men. Bobby was a great husband and father and will be deeply missed.
