Bobby Gene Pate

Bobby Gene Pate (Pa Pate), 87 of Raleigh NC, peacefully transitioned to his heavenly home on Saturday, June 24th, 2023. 

He is survived by his wife Joyce (Mema), two sons Jeff Pate and wife Pattie, Keith Pate and wife Robin, Four grandchildren Matt Pate and wife Melissa, Kaitlyn Pate Brown and husband Nick, Randall Pendergraft, Jadon Pate, four great grandchildren Easton Pate, Abigail Brown, Aubrey Pate, Weller Brown, siblings Claybourn Pait and wife Pat, Joyce Ellis and husband Philip, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Bobby was born in Bladenboro, NC, graduated from Clarkton High School, joined the U.S. Army and served his country, returning home to marry his high school sweetheart, Joyce Meggs. Together they made a life for themselves in Durham, NC.  Bobby thrived on hard work.  He had a talent for sales and a passion for helping others and with a cheerful heart.  He had a contagious, friendly, and loving smile.  Bobby loved bluegrass and gospel music and enjoyed singing in the church choir.  He left an indelible mark on those who were blessed enough to cross his path.

The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to all who offered thoughts and prayers during his final days.  We are truly grateful for your support in this difficult time.  It is our hope that everyone will experience such a wonderful, caring, loving person, and more importantly, have a relationship with Jesus Christ. 

We offer special thanks to the staff at ProMedica Hospice who cared for dad and provided emotional and practical support for us during his illness. You were a blessing to our family.

A graveside service of remembrance will be held 11:30 a.m., Friday June 30th at Clarkton Cemetery, Clarkton NC.
