Cecil Owens

Cecil Owens, 83, of Bladenboro went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, July 1, 2022.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Mildred Lee Owens, brothers, James and Tommy Owens, sisters, Faye Thompson, Geneva Hester, and Jeanette Atkinson.

Cecil was a hardworking man, who loved to tinker on things, refurbish piano’s, work in his garden, flower beds and enjoyed a collard sandwich. He loved to sing and sit around listening to Elvis while enjoying the beauty of his flowers. Cecil adored his children and grandchildren. He loved nothing more than to go eat with his family every Sunday. If you rode by his house at Christmas, you knew that it was his favorite holiday. Cecil loved his soulmate, Gina. He had a big heart and would do for others before doing for himself. His love for his family and smile will be missed.

Cecil is survived by his wife, Gina Sykes of the home; son, Mark Owens and wife Laura of Arnold, MD; daughter, Renae Taylor and husband Roger of Lumberton; Amanda Anderson and husband Steve; Leigh Deaver and husband Pete both of Bladenboro; sister, Gloria Jean Musselwhite; ten grandchildren, Cory Hester and wife Leann; Jordan Hester, Alexis Turner and husband Rashawn; Nicholas Peavy; Owen Peavy and wife Tyler; Kassidy Leonard and husband Chris; Chris Owens and wife Anna; Noah Deaver, Eric Deaver and Scott Anderson and wife Tiffany; seven great grandchildren; Hollyn Hester; Riley Hester; Ella Grace and Hudson Leonard; Emmie Peavy; Helena and Kylie Owens; and a multitude of nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 4, 2022, at New Light Church from 1:45pm until 2:45pm with funeral services to follow at 3:00pm. Revs. Cory Hester, Dale Hester, and Bobby Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in Lewis Cemetery. At all other times the family will receive friends at the home of Cory and Leann Hester, 8912 Center Rd. Bladenboro.
