Chancey Andrew Ludlum, also known as “CA”, went to his eternal home on Thursday, June 23, 2022 while at Lower Cape Fear Life Care Center in Whiteville. He was born on June 12, 1948 in Bladen County to David and Mildred Bryant Ludlum. CA was preceded in death by his father and his stepson Patrick Bryant. Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Mildred Ludlum of Bladenboro, his fiancé Velma Muse, her children and grandchildren, his son, Phillip Ludlum of Bladenboro, three brothers, Danny Ludlum (Paula) of Elizabethtown, David Ludlum Jr. (Kay) of Bladenboro, and Steve Ludlum, also of Bladenboro, one sister Mary Frances Adams of Bladenboro, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
CA was a loving son, brother, father, and grandfather who adored his family. He retired from the U.S. Army National Guard as well as the Bladenboro Fire Department. CA was known to most as the Bladen County Animal Control officer of Bladenboro where he worked for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, old westerns, 50 and 60’s music and drag racing. CA was a very independent, lively man who was always ready for a confrontation with anyone. His headstrong independence gave him the strength to fight his illness to the very end. His family rest in knowing he’s not suffering anymore and look forward to the day they all will meet again.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 pm on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at New Light Church in Bladenboro followed by a funeral service at 3:00 pm with Pastor Dale Hester officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Ludlum Cemetery in Bladenboro.
