Charles “Chuck” Eugene Hainsey, age 76, U.S. Army Veteran, born January 11, 1947 in Detroit Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his father Lester Hainsey, his mother Louise Zalucki and one sister Nola Davidowski.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Virginia Hainsey of Bladenboro, NC, his daughters Cherie Miller (Ray) of Fuquay Varina, Tina Restivo (Tony) of White Lake, NC, sister Shirla Schaller (Rich) of Detroit, Michigan, brother Lester Hainsey (Sharon), grandchildren, Travis Dennis (Shayna), Trevor Dennis (Jessica), Austin Collum, Christopher Collum (Shelby), Ethan Collum, Hannah Miller, great grandchildren, Leila Dennis, Chandler Collum, Julie Dennis, Charlotte Collum and Archer Dennis, and several nieces, nephews and extended family.
He loved his country and volunteered to join the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969. He served in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968. He then chose to remain in the U.S. Army National Guard for 8 years. His profession was as an electrician. He had a 40-year career in which he traveled from state-to-state working. When traveling with family, he would often point out and say “I wired that building or I worked there. He was extremely proud of his accomplishments.
Chuck had a love for sports, western movies, bowling, playing games on his phone with his sister Shirla. He loved his family, grilling, and making jokes. He was always picking with someone. He often shared stories and if he got tickled while doing so, his laugh was contagious to everyone listening. Sometimes folks didn’t get his sense of humor, but they would have to laugh at him laughing at himself.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 21, 2023 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 22nd at 11:00 am at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home with the Reverend Michael Skinner officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Clarkton Cemetery in Clarkton, NC.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all the friends and family that came to give their support, prayers, rides to appointments, sitting with daddy while mom ran errands, brought food, gave money, or just came to sit and chat. A special thanks to Zola King, Barbara Ann Eason, Brian and Michael Skinner and Shane Richardson. We love and appreciate all that you have done.
