Charles Matthew "Matt" Hardee, Sr

Charles Matthew “Matt” Hardee, Sr., 76, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Columbus Regional Hospital in Whiteville surrounded by his wife and children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew Francis Hardee and Daphne Potter Hardee. 

Matt leaves behind his loving wife, Betty Hardee of the home; two sons: Matthew Hardee, Lucas Hardee and wife Donna; daughter, Lee Hardee; brother, Jim Hardee and wife Beverly; sisters: Ann Jones and husband Richard, Jane Horst and husband Pete; grandchildren: Will Barnes, Ross Barnes, Tripp Hardee, Jenna Hardee, Jackson Hardee and lots of nieces, nephews, and cousins who were very special to him.

Matt was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf with friends and family. He loved nature and had the benefit of seeing birds, squirrels, turkey and deer right from his back porch. From early on in his life, he was a cowboy which involved team penning and showing cutting horses in competitions. His delightful and courageous spirit will forever be remembered by all.

The family will receive friends from 10-10:45am on Tuesday, October 24th at Elizabethtown Baptist Church with a celebration of life service following at 11am with the Pastor Rudy Ramphal and Reverend Warren Hill officiating service.
