Charlie Mabe

April 30, 1941 — January 24, 2017

Early Tuesday morning on January 24, 2017, Charlie Orville Mabe departed his earthly home with a smile on his face. He is preceded in death by his parents James and Lula Mabe, two brothers: Roy and Ransom Mabe, three sisters: Gladys Crowder, Nancy Bailey, Cora Roberts and one daughter Sharon Oakley. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Robbie Bordeaux Mabe of the home, three sons: Gerry Mabe and wife Lynita of Swepsonville, NC; Rodney Long of Burlington, NC; and Kevin Mabe of Altamahaw, NC; two daughters: Stefanie Kimbro and husband Jason of Prospect Hill, NC; and Erica Potter and husband James of Kelly, NC; 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one fur baby, Niki.
During his life, Charlie managed to leave behind great memories for his family and friends. He always had a love for the outdoors. He enjoyed gardening and watching things grow and bloom. As a machinist, Charlie could look at a rusty piece of metal and visualize it becoming something shiny and useful. He always wanted to make people smile and enjoyed the breakfast club and all the time spent sitting around the circle at the local establishment with his friends. Charlie was much loved and will be missed immensely.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday, January 26, 2016. A funeral service will be Friday, January 27th at 2 pm at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with Bishop John Ricks officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Bordeaux Cemetery in Elizabethtown.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 206, Warrior Trail, Whiteville, NC 28472 or Bladen County Animal Shelter, 506 Smith Circle, Elizabethtown, NC 28337.
