Rev. Claybourn Franklin Faircloth (Pops/Red), 85, U.S. Army Sgt. First Class Korean War Veteran of Elizabethtown passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2019. He is preceded in death by his parents: George Barney Faircloth and Mary Downing Faircloth, and his wife Faye Hardison Faircloth. Rev. Claybourn is survived by his son Roy Lee Faircloth (Cristy) of Durham, four daughters: Jackie F. Szymanski (John) of New Hill; Linda F. Clayton (Daryl) of Cedar Grove; Wanda F. Wilkerson of Roxboro; and Elizabeth F. Person (Rod) of Hope Mills, one brother: Donald Faircloth (Minnie) of Oxford; three sisters: Avleen Ray of Durham; Ann Dowless of Hampton, VA; and Frances Watson (David) of Durham, 12 grandchildren: Trent Burton, Jenny Haynes, Johnny Szymanski, Teresa Wilkerson Clayton, Amy Wilkerson, Kevin Clayton, Kenny Clayton, Kirk Clayton, Sandra Faircloth, Melody Faircloth, Logan Person, Jason Person, 10 great grandchildren, and one great granddaughter on the way.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 - 8:00 pm on Thursday, January 10th at Briar Branch Baptist Church in Elizabethtown. A visitation will also be held on Friday, January 11th from 7-9 pm at Clements Funeral Home, 1105 Broad St., Durham, NC. A funeral service will be held at Clements Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, January 12th at 2:00 pm officiated by Rev. Bruce Cannon, Rev. Greg Allison, and Rev. Harry Brown. Burial will follow the services in the Oak Grove Memorial Park Cemetery in Durham.
