Crystal Evans Simmons

Crystal Evans Simmons, 79, of Elizabethtown passed away at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, North Carolina on Thursday, September 26, 2024. Crystal was born to the late Fred and Beatrice Mintz on November 28, 1944 in New Hanover County. She is preceded by her husband, Michael Simmons.

Crystal leaves behind her son, Jake Simmons and wife Kelly of Monroe; daughters: Tracey Martin and husband Dayton of Clayton, Jodie Simmons of Lutz, Florida; mother-in-law, Margaret Hicks of Whiteville; brother-in-law, Lynn Simmons and wife Ann of Whiteville; grandchildren: Dayleigh Martin, Addison Martin, Derek Simmons, Palmer Martin, Olivia Simmons, Presley Simmons-Carlino, Katelyn Simmons and several nieces and nephews.

Crystal cherished the time spent with her family. She was lovingly called Nuna by her sweet grandchildren. She loved to plan surprises and sew and smock outfits for them. She was an incredibly talented baker and was well known for her delicious cookies and cakes. She had a fondness for all holidays but especially Christmas. For many years, she was an active member of Wesley’s Chapel Church where she enjoyed serving in numerous capacities. Crystal loved taking care of others and her thoughtful and unselfish nature will be forever remembered.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, October 1st at Wesley’s Chapel Church in Elizabethtown. The Reverend Warren Hill and Reverend Eckie Lancaster will officiate the service. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
