Dewey Dove, 71, of Bladenboro, died Thursday, July 27, 2006, at his home.
Mr. Dove was born to Alonzo Dove and Myrtle Tyner Dove on November 7, 1934. He was a Charter member of Northside Baptist Church, Bladenboro and was an Army veteran. Mr. Dove was a strong advocate of highway safety for North Carolina. He was the founder and president of the North Carolina Truck Drivers Association and the founder and president of the Nationwide Professional Truck Drivers Association.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Dove; son, Mike Dove and wife Sandi of Bladenboro; daughters, Ava Simmons and husband Larry of Bladenboro, Jackie Dove of Bladenboro, and Melissa Dove of Bladenboro; sisters, Mildred Nelms of Jacksonville, Florida, and Pauline Carroll of Dublin, NC; grandchildren, Audrey Roberts and husband Brad of Elizabethtown, NC, Victoria Simmons of Bladenboro, Britton Simmons of Orlando, Florida, Justin and Patrick Dove of Whiteville, NC, Holden Dove of Myrtle Beach, SC, Corey and Jeremy Cox of Bladenboro, Jason Pait of Orlando, Florida, and Carrie Pait of Bladenboro; and one great grandchild, Karlee Roberts of Elizabethtown.
The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 30, at Northside Baptist Church, Bladenboro with Rev. Scott Lewis officiating. The visitation will be held 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Saturday, July 29, at Bladen Funeral Home & Cremations, Elizabethtown. Burial will be in Pinecrest Cemetery, Bladenboro.
