Donald James Cain, age 67, of Bladenboro, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 11, 2023, while at Chapel Hill, NC. He was reunited with those gone on before, his loving wife Gladys Hall Cain, his father, Nathan “N.J.” Cain, and his sister Janie Richardson.
He is survived by his mother, Marie Cain of Bladenboro, son, Jeffrey Cain (Allison Suggs) of Lumberton, daughter Lisa C. Baker (Terry) of Elizabethtown, two brothers, Horace Cain (Patsy) of Bladenboro, and Terry Cain (Sandra) of Elizabethtown, two granddaughters Destiny Baker and Caroline Cain, great granddaughter, Brylee and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
“Ronnie” as he was called by most, was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was an outdoorsman by nature. You could always find him on the river fishing or in the woods hunting every spare chance he got. Every year Ronnie would plan a fishing trip with his brothers, his nephews, and his cousins. Even if they caught no fish, they loved just hanging out with each other joking around and catching up on each other’s life. It was something they all looked forward to every year. Ronnie was also an avid gun collector. If ever anyone were searching for something special or needing something repaired, the “Gun Doctor” could help them out.
Ronnie was a “Mama’s Boy” or, so it has been said. He didn’t hesitate to drop by to bring his mom a flower from his yard and have a chat or help his siblings in her care. He also didn’t mind stopping in to enjoy some of mom’s homemade cooking if she was able. Ronnie was one of a kind. He shared lots of laughs and love in the years spent here and will surely be missed by all. His family rest in knowing that Ronnie is where he always longed to be, with Jesus and reunited with his beloved wife, Gladys.
