Dorothy Russ

Dorothy Andrews Russ, age 87 of Bladenboro, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Poplar Heights in Elizabethtown. Dorothy was born February 11, 1927. She is preceded in death by her parents, Coron and Ada Andrews; sister, Mable A. Williams; brother, Dewey Andrews and her loving husband, H.J. Russ. She is survived by her beloved daughter Jo Ann Hall and husband Mark of Wilmington; several nephews, nieces, cousins and a special friends, Amie Wilson and Daisy Hall.

After the loss of her husband, Dorothy worked with Converse and retired from Bladenboro Cotton Mill. Dorothy lived a long, happy life with much love from her daughter Jo, wonderful nephews, nieces, neighbors and friends. She loved the many who stopped by and left presents on her freezer. She was a member of White Oak Free Will Baptist Church for over 50 years - receiving the oldest member award last year from the Women's Sunday School Class. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses who cared for Dorothy during her stay at Poplar Heights. Memorials may be made to White Oak Free Will Baptist Church Construction Fund, Hwy 211, Bladenboro NC.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. Services will follow in the Chapel at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Dr. Bobby Carden. Burial will follow at Bladen Memorial Gardens.
