Dorris Gooden Cook

Dorris Gooden Cook passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Rudolph H Cook, her parents Carl and Evelyn Gooden and her siblings Merle Gooden Miller, Nadine Gooden Evans and Major John C Gooden. Her survivors are Kitty Cook Gainey (Gary)  of Tarpon Springs FL, Rudy Cook (Ellie) of Lexington, NC, siblings Florence Gooden Cox of Clarkton, NC and Marsha Gooden Faucette of Midlothian VA, two grandchildren Farah Gainey Vann (Eric ) of Tarpon Springs, FL and Melissa Gainey King (Brent) of Woodstock, GA, and six great grandchildren Austin Vann, Garrison Vann, Declan Vann, Mazie King, Graham King, and Claire King.

Dorris loved gardening in her beautiful  yard, loved listening to all kinds of music, and her favorite pastime was being with her family. She was a loyal member of Elizabethtown Baptist Church for 50+ years  where she was a Sunday School teacher as well as a member of the choir. She was affectionately called Ada by her Grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 10-10:45 am at the Elizabethtown Baptist Church followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am with Dr. David Elks officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Bladen Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Elizabethtown.
