Douglas Wayne Adams, 54, of Bladenboro passed away on Monday, June 8, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family and his fur babies, Chloe and Tootsie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles L. Adams and Ruby Davis Adams, paternal grandparents, Robert and Isabella Adams, maternal grandparents, Maxie and Lucy Davis, and two brothers, Charles Howard Adams and Donald Ray Adams. Douglas leaves behind his sister, Windy Butler (Yogi) of Dublin; one niece, Alyson Daughety (Adam) of Bladenboro; life long companion, Sheila Byrd, special granddaughter, Timeira Rich, several aunts, uncles and cousins, special friends, Ken Kinlaw, Billy Smith, Josh, “Peanut” Edwards and many other special work friends.
Douglas loved his family and Nascar. He enjoyed traveling, seeing new things and eating. He especially liked to share his food with his fur babies. Douglas had a love of life. His wit and his charm have left impressions that will not soon be forgotten by all that had the pleasure of knowing him.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2020 from 2-3:00 pm at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral service will follow in the chapel at 3:00 pm with Rev. Larry Singley, Rev. Stanley Simmons and Rev. Leon Warren officiating.
A special thank you to the staff of Community Home Health and Hospice of Whiteville, NC especially his nurses Kaytlin Britt and Katrina Stanley, for their care of Douglas during his illness.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Bladen County Animal Control.
