Earl Claude Burney, 74, of Kelly passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Claude Burney and Lucy Daniels and eight siblings. Earl is survived by his loving wife Joyce Burney of the home, sons, Kevin Burney and David Burney (Donna) of Kelly, brother Fred “Buddy” Burney and five grandchildren, Jaxson Wyatt Burney, Hunter Bryce Burney, Kayla Todd, Brandon Todd, and Andrew Todd.
Earl was a devoted Christian family man. He always put his Lord and Savior first and then his family. Earl spent four years in the U.S. National Guard and 33 ½ years with International Paper. He served his country and his community well. Earl was known as the “Sawmill Man of Kelly” for his work in creating logging mats and flooring lowboy mats from his very own sawmill. When not working, Earl enjoyed hunting and fishing. He will be remembered for his humble nature and his dedication.
The family will receive friends at 10 am on Friday, March 11, 2022 at Centerville Baptist Church in Kelly followed by an 11 am funeral service with Rev. James Allen Murray officiating. Services will conclude in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Kelly.
