Elmer George Tessenear, 81, of Elizabethtown passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, in Fayetteville at the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. He was born to the late O.B. Tessenear, Sr. and Lillie Richards Tessenear on July 10, 1943.

He is preceded in passing by his sister, Helen Hudson, and his brothers, O.B. Tessenear, Jr., James Tessenear and Bobby Tessenear.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Anne Warwick Tessenear, of the home; his son, Brian and his wife Meg; his granddaughter, Hannah; and a whole host of nieces, nephews, friends, extended family and of course, his golf buddies.

Elmer and his wife of fifty-eight years, Anne, were members of The Lake Church. He proudly served his country for four years in the National Guard and continued his service as a member of the Elizabethtown Rescue Squad for twenty years. He was a member of Bladen Masonic Lodge No.646 and a member of the Wilmington Scottish Rite Bodies. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his granddaughter Hannah. He enjoyed spending time shagging to beach music with Anne, spending time with his dog Bogey, then Rex, and now Riley. He loved the outdoors, working with his hands, tending to his garden and his later found love of crafts. Elmer continued his service to others by assisting the Bladen Baptist Association with building ramps. To say he enjoyed playing golf, might be an understatement and the time he spent out on the greens with his golf buddies will afford memories for years to come.

A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Lake Church in White Lake at 2 o’clock in the afternoon with Pastor Cameron McGill and Reverend David Foster officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 o’clock prior to the service.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Liberty Homecare & Hospice Services of Whiteville, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Lake Church whose address is 1930 White Lake Drive White Lake, NC 28337.
