Elsie “Faye” Porter Garber, 89, of Elizabethtown passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024, while at Bladen East Assisted Living. She was born in Bladen County to the late Troy A. Porter and Mae Allison Porter.
Faye leaves behind her son, Daniel Martin “Marty” Garber of Okeechobee, FL, daughter Vicki C. Little (Benny) of Lumber Bridge, two brothers Louis Porter of Maryland and Paul Porter of Orlando, FL, five grandchildren, Kelly Marie Sanders (Robert), David Charles Garber, Jerry Little (Erica), Shannon Webber (Paul), and Kim Thiemann, three step grandchildren, two great grandchildren Avery Sanders, Carter Sanders, and five step great grandchildren, Ella Little, Preston Little, Jacob Webber, Ben Haggard, Eli Thiemann; six nieces and four nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles Edward Garber Sr., one son Charles Edward Garber Jr. and one brother Sam Porter.
Faye was a strong, independent minded lady. She enjoyed doing things her way. Her hobbies included dancing, waterskiing, gardening, traveling, attending family reunions and the Porter Houseparty. She loved the outdoors whether it was tending her beloved roses, sunbathing, fishing or even hunting. Faye will forever be remembered for her zest for life and her love of telling others all about her family.
A Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. Burial will follow in the Porter Family Cemetery in Kelly.
