Elvis Earl Jernigan, 60, of Bladenboro passed away on July 12, 2021. He was preceded in death by his father J.C. Adcox, his sister Donna Duckworth and his maternal grandmother Ada L. Ellis. Survivors include his mother Alice Adcox, of Bladenboro, son, John Jernigan (Sara) of Bladenboro, daughter April Johansen (JoJo) of Lumberton, one sister Sherlyn Jernigan of Bladenboro, four grandchildren: Landon, Ella, Noah, and Hayden, three nieces: Amy DiCicco, Paula Melton, and Nichole Gandy and two nephews, Jason Jernigan and Jonathan DiCicco.
Elvis worked for 30 years with Adcox Appliances in Bladenboro alongside his parents from 1971 until 2001 when he took ownership. He continued to run the family business until his retirement in 2009. Elvis was the neighborhood handyman. He loved his community and extended a helping hand whenever called upon. Elvis was often called a “Mama’s Boy” because he took great pride in being by her side any time she needed him. When not working, you could find him fishing at the beach or watching NASCAR racing on Sunday. He adored his family, friends, and his little dog. He will be remembered for his heart of gold, his sense of humor, and his dedication to helping his neighbors.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Friday, July 16th at the Bladenboro Chapel of Bladen Gaskins. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 17th at 2:00 pm at the Bladenboro location as well with Pastor Brian DiCicco and Pastor Bobby Smith officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Singletary Cemetery on the sandhills in Bladenboro.
