Erline Phillips Evans, age 86, of Elizabethtown passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was born October 2, 1926, in Robeson County, the daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Samuel Phillips. Ms. Evans was preceded in death by her husband Douglas Leonard Evans Sr., six brothers, and one sister.
Erline was a graduate of Coker College and taught for many years in Robeson and Bladen County Schools. She was active in the Retired School Personnel Association, The Library Book Club, Elizabethtown Baptist Church and loved spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by two sons Doug Jr. and wife Debbie and Mitchell and wife Debbie; grandchildren Seth Evans, Rachel Evans, Patrick Murphy, and Troy Murphy, and her beloved nieces, nephews, and their families.
Family will receive friends from 6 til 8 pm Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home. A celebration of Erline's life will be held Sunday, March 17, 2013 at 4:00 PM at Elizabethtown Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Carroll officiating. Interment will follow in Elizabethtown Cemetery.
