Esther Jean Oliver

Esther Jean Oliver, 75, of Bladenboro went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 while at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center. She was born on January 10, 1948 the daughter of the late Clarence and Letha Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Howard Smith, Billy Smith, Esteline Allbright, Estelle Johnson, Elmarie Davenport, and Letha “Tootsie” Matheson.

Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 55 years, Walt Oliver, of the home, sons, Stewart Glenn Oliver (Ms. Wendy) and Christopher Oliver, one brother Jimmy Smith (Nancy), all of Bladenboro, five grandchildren Jaden Lee Oliver, Jeremy Oliver (Brittany), Johnathan Oliver, Michelle Baxley, and Austin Oliver (Emma), one great grandchild Ivey Oliver, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Esther was a devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She dearly loved the Lord and her family, especially her grandchildren. They were the apple of her eye.  Esther was a wonderful cook and she enjoyed cooking and taking care of the whole family. The love she so freely gave and dedication to all that she did in this life will live on in the hearts and lives of all that cherished her.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm on Friday, May 26, 2023, at Bladen Gaskins Chapel in Bladenboro followed by a funeral service at 2 pm with the Reverend Howard Allbright officiating. A burial will follow the services in the Union Valley Cemetery in Whiteville.
