Ettra Melissa (Helms) Hall, 93, of Clarkton passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at her home.
She was born on August 16, 1917 in Bladen County to the late Jonathan and Lola Elizabeth Long Helms. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William Alton Hall; four brothers, Claude, Roy, Paul and "Buddy" Helms and one sister, Ruth Helms.
She loved her church (Clarkton United Methodist) and was active in church work, as long as she was able and was a constant source of help to those in need. She was a daughter, sister, loving wife, loving and caring mother and she gave many years of dedicated service to her family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 3, 2011 from 1:00 until 2:00 pm at Clarkton United Methodist Church. The service will follow at 2:00 pm with Rev. Earl Smith and Rev. Neill Smith, Rev. Shannon Ross officiating. Burial will follow in Clarkton Cemetery.
Ettra is survived by one son, Jonathan M. Hall and wife Cathy of Hampstead, NC; one daughter, Dianne Hall Sholar and husband Donald of Elizabethtown; one sister, Pearlie Mae Bridgers of Riegelwood, NC; four grandchildren, Tammy Eyler of Keymar, MD, Gerry Hall of Richmond, VA, Tonya Suggs of White Oak, NC and Chris Hall of Sanford, NC; one great grandchild, Skylar Suggs of White Oak.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 101 South Craig Street, Elizabethtown, NC 28337.
