Eunice Singletary

Eunice Batten Singletary, 91, of Clarkton, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents: Robert and Effie Batten; husband: Steve Singletary; two sisters, six brothers and several infant siblings. Eunice is survived by four daughters: Jenny Foreman (Coby) of Angier, Sheila Merritt (Kenneth) of Elizabethtown, Rebecca McBride ( Jim) of Waxhaw, Carol Daniel (Donald) of Hurdle Mills; brother: Raymond Batten of Clarkton, nine grandchildren: Graham Peace, Carrie Stringfield (Zack), Destone Merritt (Meredith), Jonathan Daniel (Crystal), Emily Peace, Garrett Daniel (Brittany), James McBride (David), Kayla Tatum (TJ), Hannah McBride; Jeffrey Merritt, seven great-grandchildren: Mabel, Saedie, Hunter, Ashton, Ava, Kennedy, Kaison, Brandon and Mayson.

Eunice was a very talented artist, and she shared her creativity with her entire family and community. Her love and devotion for her family was indescribable, she absolutely adored them. When her grandchildren left they would always say "love you Nana", and she would say "love you more." Eunice loved children always paying a special attention to them. She especially enjoyed assembling the shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. Eunice was an exceptional doll maker and seamstress. She made many bridesmaid dresses and had her own business, The Sewing Basket, for about six years during the 1970's. Eunice cared for her mother-in-law and her mother during their sickness and lots of people in the community. She will leave a big hole in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 from 1-2pm at Clarkton Presbyterian Church with a funeral service at 2pm. Rev. Donald Daniel and Rev. Steuart Link will be officiating services. Burial will follow in Clarkton Cemetery.
