Floyd Edward Osborne Jr., 80, U.S. Army Veteran of Wilmington, NC went to his eternal home on July 18, 2021. He was preceded in death by his wives Mary Elizabeth Meares Osborne, and Rachel Reynolds Osborne, one daughter, Patricia Lee Osborne Derr, and son-in-law Ben Hochstrasser. Floyd is survived by sons, Russell Edward Osborne (Carrie) of Maysville, Robert. L. Osborne (Rene) of Wilmington, daughters, Pamela Kay Osborne of Southport, and Sebrina D. Vinson (Dean) of Kings Mountain, 21 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
Floyd was born to the late Floyd Osborne Sr. and Hazel Courtney Osborne on February 14, 1941, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and grandfather. Floyd served 20 years total in the military beginning in the U.S. Army and finishing up with the U.S. Naval Reserves as a Seabee. After his military career, he became the owner and operator of Maintenance and Repair business for 45 years. He enjoyed fishing, cooking for his family, and sharing his wisdom with others. He was a dedicated member of the Pineview Baptist Church where he loved to sing gospel hymns. Floyd also served as Boy Scout Leader for Troop 207 in Brunswick County. He leaves a legacy of love and devotion that will not soon be forgotten.
A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at 4:00 pm at the Pineview Baptist Church, 202 Flemington Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 1:00 pm in the Davis Family Cemetery in Elizabethtown.
