Frances Meggs

Frances Brown Meggs, of Clarkton, NC, died Thursday, January 4, 2007.



Mrs. Meggs was the daughter of the late Albert and Bessie Brown. She retired from

BB & T Bank in 1992 after 34 years of faithful service. She was a lifelong member of Clarkton Presbyterian Church. In the last 4 ½ years she had made her home with Jackie and Brenda Kennedy of Clarkton. While she had no children of her own, she greatly loved her nieces and nephews and treated them as her own. She was dearly loved by all those who knew her.



She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J. Monroe Meggs; sister, Grace Brown McQueen; brothers, James A. Brown and S. Jack Brown.



She is survived by her sister, Katherine Brown Regan; nieces, Nancy M. Gooden of Morehead City, NC, Brenda M. Kennedy, Phyllis R. Burch, Wanda B. Elkins, and Margaret Brown, all of Clarkton, and Becky Regan of Elizabethtown; and nephews, Herbert McQueen, Jr. of Clarkton, and Jimmy Brown of Bladenboro, NC.



The visitation will be held from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday, January 5, at Bladen Funeral Home. There will be a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 6, at Clarkton City Cemetery. The Rev. Stewart Link and Rev. Micky Norman will officiate.



In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Lifecare Center, P.O. Box 1984, Elizabethtown or Clarkton Presbyterian Church, Clarkton, NC.
