Frankie Eugene Baxley, 69, of Elizabethtown went to his eternal home on Monday, May 10, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace Eugene Baxley and Frances Melvin Baxley. He leaves behind his wife, Sharon Grimes Baxley of the home, three sons: Tanner Baxley of Cary, Ryan Baxley of Wilmington, and Logan Baxley of the home, and one sister, Tammy Blount (Tim) of White Lake.
Frankie was a man with strong family values. He loved and was proud of his wife and boys and if you did not believe it, just ask him. He was all about speed growing up and earned his nickname “Flash” as he was one of the fastest runners on the Track team. He also enjoyed fast cars from the sports models to the classics. Frankie was an avid water skier and taught the children of many family members and friends to water ski.
He graduated from Elizabethtown High School and Campbell University. During and after college, Frankie worked alongside his father in the Wallace Baxley and Son Logging Company. After retiring from logging, Frankie became the owner and operator of Five Lakes Glass Company. He was also the joint owner of Blount/Baxley Enterprise Coin Laundry and Real Estate Business. He was a lifelong member of Elizabethtown Baptist Church. Frankie always carried a strong work ethic and held meaningful relationships with his neighbors and many in his community.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Elizabethtown Baptist Church, 1800 W. Broad Street, Elizabethtown, NC 28337. The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm to 2:45 pm on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at The Elizabethtown Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm with Dr. Rudy Ramphal officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Grimes Tatum Cemetery in Tar Heel.
