Frankie Mae Elkins Benton, 96, of Riegelwood passed on Monday, September 2, 2024 at her home. She was born to the late Franklin Elkins and Flossie Masters Elkins on October 28, 1927 in Bladen County. Frankie was also preceded by husband, James Benton; grandsons: Colby Savage, James Stanley Baldwin; great-grandson, Glenn Marvin; sons-in-law: Kirby Lynn Savage and Glenn E. “Sonny” Clayter.
Frankie leaves behind her daughters: Linda Clayter of Riegelwood, Shirley Baldwin (Stanley) of Riegelwood, Connie Savage (special friend, Mike Milligan) of Elizabethtown; grandchildren: Sonya Marvin (Ricky), Byron Clayter (Debra), Cameron Baldwin (Nina), Candace Baldwin, Casey Savage (Kaylyn), Chandler Savage (Blair); great-grandchildren: Austin Marvin, Tristan Baldwin, Breanna Baldwin, Tyler Young, Zoey Savage, Cyrus Savage, Aleigh, Samantha and Leah Clayter.
The family would like to thank her special caregivers: Tiffany Smith, Jannie Smith, Tabitha Richard and Theresa McKiver for their compassion shown toward Ms. Frankie in her last days.
Frankie loved her family dearly and cherished each moment spent with each of them. She was the owner and operator of the Benton Service Station for many years. She was a people person and would like for people to drop in and visit her anytime. When she was able, Frankie attended Kelly Trinity Methodist Church. She enjoyed fishing, shopping and watching TV. Her kind and compassionate nature will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends from 2-2:45pm on Thursday, September 5th in the Carver’s Creek Methodist Church fellowship hall with a funeral service at 3pm in the church sanctuary. Reverend Ernie Block and Reverend Donald Daniel will officiate service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
