Gail Ellen Rice King

Gail Ellen Rice King, of Kelly, NC passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2024, while at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville at the age of 80.

 She was born in Cumberland County on December 27, 1943, the daughter of the late Abner Walter Rice and Ellen Pleasant Rice. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, James A. King Sr., daughter Helen Jean King, grandson James King, great granddaughter Zoey King, brother Elwood Rice and sister Doris Moody.

 Left to cherish her memory are son, James A. King Jr. of Pembroke, daughter Teresa Lynn Barnhart (Terry) of Rosehill, brothers Ed Rice (Laura) and Jimmy Rice (Faye), both of White Oak, special grandchild Melissa Strickland (Steven), Christina Thomas (Doug), Matthew King, and Patrick Barnhart, 17 great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, her special furry companion, Shorty and special ex daughter-in-law, Wendy.

 Gail was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her happiest times were spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed celebrating Christmas together, cooking, and being at home. She left a legacy of love that won’t soon be forgotten.

 The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm on Tuesday, August 27th at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown followed by a funeral service at 2 pm with the Reverend Roland T. McKoy officiating. Burial will follow the services in the White Oak Family Worship Center Cemetery in White Oak.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the funeral fund of Gail King.
