Glenda Smith

Glenda Baxley Smith, 61, of Bladenboro, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Southeastern Hospital in Lumberton, NC surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness. Glenda was a graduate of East Bladen High School and also attended Bladen Community College. For more than 20 years, she was the Business Administrative Secretary for Sampson-Bladen in Elizabethtown, NC.

Glenda was a devoted mother, precious Mema, very special sister and friend to many. She had a servant's heart for God and a passion for helping others. She will be greatly missed.

Glenda was predeceased by her parents: Horace and Shirley Baxley of Elizabethtown. She is survived by two daughters: Jennifer Smith Russ (Cory) of Dublin and Amanda "Mandi" Smith Fief (Mike) of Fayetteville; seven precious grandchildren: John Dylan, Jailynn, Jacie, Jayla Russ and Trenton "Trent", Kinley and Landon Fief; one brother: Horace Melvin Baxley (Marlene) of Harrells; one sister: Rosa Baxley English (Randy) of Elizabethtown; very close companion: Larry Buffkin, Sr. of Elizabethtown; a lifetime sister in Christ: Brenda Prevatte Jernigan of Lumberton; a special friend: Maxine Cashwell of Elizabethtown and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral service will be held at Pleasant Grove Church in Bladenboro on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 1pm with Rev. Charleston Guyton, Rev. Cameron McGill and her son-in-law Cory Russ officiating. Burial will follow service in the Brisson Cemetery Hwy 41 in Bladenboro.
