Glenda Sue Babson Willoughby, of Bladenboro, passed away peacefully at home at the age of 72. She was born in Bladen County on October 4, 1950 to the late Theodoras Babson and Eloise Rich Babson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jerry Willoughby and her brother Bobby Dale Babson. Left to cherish her memory are son Keith Willoughby (Kim) of Bladenboro, daughter Dawn Sykes (Keith) of Bladenboro, two brothers Jerry Wayne Babson and Teddy Babson (Jeannie), all of Bladenboro, two sisters Phyllis Barnett of Bladenboro and Barbara Seals (James) of Lenoir, seven grandchildren, Zack Willoughby, Hunter Willoughby, Krisna Evers (Cody), Ethan Willoughby (Katie), Katelyn Willoughby, Austin Sykes (Lauren) and Kaleb Davis and one great grandson, Waylon Evers.
Glenda was a high spirited, loving woman. Anyone that knew her knew she wasn’t afraid to speak what was on her mind. She had the gift of gab and loved family get togethers catching up with everyone. She loved sitting on the back porch with a Pepsi in hand watching the hummingbirds, the flowers blooming and the garden grow. She couldn’t hardly wait for butterbean and pea shelling time. Three things for sure about Glenda was she loved to get her hair done up, always dressed up before leaving home and loved a good meal. Dawn always got mom’s opinion on how to cook whether she wanted it or not. Glenda will be remembered for her spunk, her love for her family, her laugh, and her way of keeping everyone in line.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at the Bladenboro Chapel of Bladen Gaskins. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at the Bladenboro Chapel with the Reverend Oneil Parker officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Singletary Cemetery in Bladenboro.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Liberty Hospice for the love and care given to Glenda during this difficult time.
