Harry Lee Hall, 80, of Bladenboro, NC, and husband of Annie Hilburn Hall, died after an extended illness Friday, April 11, 2008. Mr. Hall was born in Abbottsburg, the son of the late John Waymon and Bertha Thompson Hall. Mr. Hall was a retired farmer. He had been a cabinetmaker for many years until 1968 when he began farming on a part-time basis. He farmed full time beginning in the early 1970s until his retirement about ten years ago. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman.
Visitation for Mr. Hall is scheduled for Sunday, April 13 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home of Elizabethtown. Services will be held at Northside Baptist Church in Bladenboro at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 14, 2008 with the Rev. Scott Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Cashwell Cemetery, Abbottsburg.
He is survived by his wife, Annie, of sixty-two years; daughters, Katherine H. Long and husband, Robert of Bladenboro and Lula H. Dorsey and husband, Paul of Chadbourn; and sons, Henry L. and wife, Elisabeth, of Columbia, SC and James E. and wife, Terry, of Bladenboro. He is also survived by his sister, Tiny H. Ammons, and husband, Richard, of Clinton; as well as eight grandchildren, Carolyn H. Wall of Monroe, David Hord of Waxhaw, Andrew and Patrick Hall of Columbia, Amy D. Dudley and Justin Dorsey of Chadbourn, Debra H. Long of Nakina, and Jennifer H. Britt of Bladenboro, and step-grandson, Scottie Callihan of Bladenboro; twelve great-grandchildren, and one step-great-grandchild.
He was predeceased by sisters, Annie Ruth Cain, Nora Mae Ward, and Carrie Love Mayes, as well as brothers, Gordon, Edward, Harvey, and Dewitt.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Advantage Hospice, 427 South Madison Street, Whiteville NC 28472 or to a charity of one's choice.
The family extends its deepest appreciation to Linda Torrence, the staff of Advantage Hospice, and to the members of Northside Baptist Church for their care and support.
