Henry Albert McCormick, 78, of Smithfield, passed away on May 24, 2020 surrounded by his family. Henry was born in Elizabethtown, NC to parents John Sampson McCormick and Ora Alice Hill McCormick.
Henry, better known as PawPaw for grandpa to his grandchildren, was a loving husband, father, brother, grandpa, and friend. He served in the United States Navy from 1961-1964 as a BT2 aboard the USS John Hancock CVA-19. He retired from Fort Eustis where he served as a Boiler Plant Equipment Mechanic Foreman. He loved to fish and spend time with his family.
Henry is preceded in death by his parents John Sampson McCormick and Ora Alice Hill McCormick; his siblings; Ralph, Wade, Earl, Milton, Joyce, Betty, and John Monroe.
Henry is survived by his loving wife of 24 Years, Faye D. McCormick; his three children, Henry McCormick III and wife, Caitlin of Smithfield, Alan Hill and wife, Melissa of Fayetteville, and Crystal Hill and husband, Lance of Fayetteville; four grandchildren, Tanner Hill, Olivia Hill, Tucker McCormick, and Sutton McCormick; and his sister Cammi Calloway. He also leaves behind a host of extended family and friends that will miss him dearly.
A graveside service will be held at the Allen Family Cemetery on Bethel Church Rd., Dublin, N.C., 28332 on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at 3 pm with Pastor Warren Hill officiating. The arrangements are in the care of Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home, Elizabethtown, NC.
