Hiram Kendrick Hester, 61, of Bladenboro passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, February 22, 2014. He was the middle of three sons born to Kendrick and Esther Bowen Hester. He was predeceased by his mother.
Hiram was retired from the U.S. Army with 20 years of distinguished service. He and Micha, his wife, owned Axicor, Inc. for ten years. Since its inception, he was a dedicated member of "Boost the Boro", a grassroots organization committed to the revitalization of his beloved Bladenboro. He worked tirelessly for the betterment of the community through various clubs and organizations. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Micha and his father, Kendrick Hester; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gordon and Benita "Pete" Hester of Hope Mills, NC and Murray and Deborah Hester of Bladenboro, NC; three nieces, Lisa M. Hester, Audra Hester West and husband, Steve, and Hilary Hester; a great nephew and niece, Logan and Megan West; very special friends, Jonathan Ford and Woody Hester.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Bladenboro where he volunteered his many talents.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 23, 2014 from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home. The funeral will be held on Monday, February 24, 2014 at 5:00 pm at First Baptist Church in Bladenboro, 500 S. Main Street, with Rev. Bert Young officiating. A private burial will be held prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, Hiram requested that donations be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 206 Warrior Trail Dr., Whiteville, NC 28472.
