Hobson Sanderlin Morgan,69, of Wilmington entered into rest on Wednesday, March 10, 2021.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Allen Duke Morgan and Jane Sanderlin Morgan and one brother, Allen Duke Morgan III. Hob is survived by his wife Joy, aunt Nancy Sanderlin Collier, Phillip Clark (Ann), three sons, Hunter, Brian (Mey) and Owen (Roxana)and six grandchildren: Jadie, Carrie, Luke, Pablo, Owen Bradley, and Caroline Joy.
Hob obtained his Bachelor of Science in aeronautical studies from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Dayton Beach, FL. He served in the U.S. Navy as a trained fighter pilot. He then joined Piedmont Airlines which became US Airways and is now American Airlines, and he retired Airbus Captain after 36 years of service.
In retirement, Hob nurtured his love for nature and mentoring others about his passion for flying. His lightness and humor demonstrated his love of the Lord and of life. He was an avid outdoorsman. He was never without at least one boat! Hob was a big game hunter and traveled abroad often with Joy whom he lovingly adored.
He relished the camaraderie he had with members of North State Hunting Club where he served as president and vice president.
Hob’s love and devotion for his family is the thread that ran through his life. He will remain in the hearts of many.
Funeral services will be held at Carvers Creek UMC on Monday, March 15, 2021 at 2:00 pm officiated by Rev. Jimmie Tatum followed by a burial in the church cemetery.
