Houston Anderson Thompson, 80, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents: Wilbert and Iretha Thompson; brother: Tony Thompson; sons: Jamie and Douglas Houston Thompson. Houston leaves behind one son: Darryl Wynne Roberts of Ocean Isle Beach, NC; seven daughters: Laura Kay Hill of Kentucky (Larry), Donna Nichols of Kentucky (John), Nancy Sawyer of Maine, Danette Thompson, Debbie Mycock, Sherry Gunard and Kathleen Balfour, all of Washington State; two brothers: Wilbert Wayne Thompson of Bladenboro (Peggy), Julius Ray Thompson of Texas (Donna); one sister: Jane T. Pait of White Oak (Stewart); ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and great nephews.
Houston lived a full life. He treasured his children and family above all. Houston spent two years in the Air Force. He traveled the United States with his brothers, Tony and Ray, welding and building huge complexes. Houston loved to fish and was a cowboy at heart. He left some beautiful leatherwork for his family to treasure. Later in life, he was the “taxi driver” of McLeod Village. He was the first to arrive at the family reunion but most of all he wanted to go to church.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 29th at 2pm at White Oak Baptist Church in White Oak with a funeral service at 3pm. The Rev. Danny Lewis and James Stewart Pait, Jr. will officiate service. Burial will follow service in the church cemetery.
