Imogene Durden

Imogene “Mickey” Sykes Durden, 73, of Bladenboro, NC passed away at her home on Saturday, November 26, 2022, after a battle with cancer. She was born in Bladen County on December 31, 1948, to the late Henry Raymond Sykes and Lucille Russ Sykes. Mickey was preceded in death by grandparents David Anderson Russ and Pearl Munce Russ, Henry Franklin Sykes and Addie Packer Sykes, her husband Curtis Quincy Durden and one son Cecil Wadius “Wade” Averitt. She is also preceded in death by siblings, David Raymond Sykes, Dewey Gerald Sykes, Brenda Gail Sykes and one niece Donna Barrett Cagle. Mickey is survived by sisters-in-law Phyllis Daniel Sykes and Lois Durden Godbolt, nieces Crystal Sykes and Pam Barrett White, Lori Durden Cox, and Tammy Durden Odum, nephews David Dwayne Sykes, Gerald Sykes Jr. and Ricky Paul Barrett, and three great nieces Ashley Atkins, Carlissa Dawn Sykes and Tiffany Nicole Sykes.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, from 3-4 pm at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Bladenboro, NC followed by a funeral service at 4pm with the Reverend Jackie Strickland officiating. The burial service will be private.
