Iris King

Iris McNeill King passed away on March 6, 2021, at her home in Dublin, North Carolina, at the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Lynn Grey King, Sr. She was also predeceased by her parents, William Flowers and Delia Meehan McNeill; and her sister, Janice McNeill Mullins. Iris leaves behind her son, Lynn Grey King Jr. (Shannon); three grandchildren, Kathryn King Edge (Marc), Anna Elizabeth King, Jacob Nye King (Aleigh); and her great granddaughter, Heidi Lynn King. She is also survived by her sister, Myrtle McNeill Starnes, and her brother, William Franklin McNeill.

After graduating from King's Business College (Raleigh, NC) and Pembroke State University, Iris completed 29 years of teaching first grade at Dublin Elementary School.  As a lifetime member of Singletary United Methodist Church, she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir for myriad years. Traveling, reading, attending church, gardening, cooking pound cakes, and visiting with family and friends were activities she held dear. Her legacy of love for others, hard work, generosity, and Christian example will long be cherished.

Due to public health concerns, the family will lead a graveside service at Singletary United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers and memorials, please honor Iris's memory with your compassion and generosity for others.
