Jack Lynnwood Singletary -Lynn-, 73, of Tar Heel, died Tuesday, April 11, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Singletary was a Bladen county farmer and a rural mail carrier. He was a faithful member of Tar Heel Baptist Church with 44 years of perfect Sunday school attendance. He also served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, superintendent of Sunday school, and Training Union Director. He had 20 years of service with the Tar Heel Rescue Squad and 20 years of service with the Bladen County Soil and Water Conservation.
Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Thursday, April 13, at Tar Heel Baptist Church. The funeral will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 14, at Tar Heel Baptist Church with Dr. Mack Roberts and Rev. Warren Hill officiating. Burial will be in Tar Heel Baptist Church Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Mavis Singletary; son, Jack L. Singletary, Jr. \\"Jackie\\" and wife, Tammy of Tar Heel; daughter, Wanda Herring and husband, Terry of Tar Heel; brother, Ballard Singletary of Stover, Missouri; and sister, Wilma Tolar of Southern Pines; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospital Hospitality House of Wilmington, 1612 Medical Center Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
