Jack "Jackie" Lynwood Singletary, Jr., 62, of Tar Heel, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018. He was preceded in death by his father: Jack Singletary. Jackie is survived by mother: Mavis Hursey Singletary of Tar Heel; three sons: Jack Singletary and wife Sandra of Tar Heel, Jeromy Singletary and wife Candice of Tar Heel, Kodey Singletary and companion Morgan Campbell of Tar Heel; daughter: Kayla Singletary and companion Justin Cole; his special friend: Kim Jordan; sister: Wanda Herring and husband Terry of Tar Heel; niece: Lyndsey Powers; five grandchildren: Zach Dixon, Breanna Singletary, Andrew Sessoms, Nolan Sessoms, Chastity Singletary; great-grandchild: Ezra, and a special granddog Daisy.

Jackie was a volunteer for the Tar Heel Fire Department for 20 years and was fire chief for 13 years. He served as a former chairman of the Bladen County ASCS committee and on the Board of Education for several years. Jackie loved to hunt, farm, and fish. Helping people was one of his joys, he was very giving in his journey of life. Jackie was a great daddy and loved his family. He will be greatly missed by his family, community, and many friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 15, 2018 from 6-9pm at Tar Heel Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 2pm at Tar Heel Baptist Church. Rev. Warren Hill and Rev. Devon Varnam will be officiating services. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
